I wake to a gentle swaying motion. I can’t figure out where I am and I feel completely disoriented. I realize I am under some kind of covering, so I push it away from my face. All I can see is a sky full of stars twinkling down at me. All I can hear is the lapping of water.
Still confused I sit up realizing I must have fallen asleep in my fishing boat. I frantically look around, but all I can see is the water that surrounds me. Nothing looks familiar. There is no sign of the little cove I usually have my boat moored.
How did I manage to drift past the breakwater? All at once I remember why I was hiding in my boat and panic surges through me. I once again look through the night to desperately see the island I call home.
